Toilet Repair in Cascade, MD

Most homes in Cascade were built before 1990 and most of them are owner-occupied, which is the combination where a toilet is both likely to be old and definitely yours to deal with.

Short version

90% of occupied homes in Cascade are owner-occupied, so a failed toilet there is almost always the occupant's own to repair and the occupant's own to pay for. Nothing has to be cleared with anybody before the work is arranged. Housing there is 90% pre-1990, which dates the house rather than the fixture.

Tank and Bowl is a referral service, not a contractor. We connect homeowners with independent contractors. Contractors are required to hold whatever credential their state or municipality demands. Every state page sets out who licenses plumbers there and where to check, so you can confirm before work begins. We carry out no work, we sell no fixtures, we do not set prices, and we never charge homeowners anything — the contractors in our network pay us when we route them a call.

Who this page is for in Cascade

With 90% of households owning their home, Cascade is a town where the answer to “whose repair is this” is nearly always the same one. The interesting question is which part has failed.

What the age of Cascade’s housing suggests

Cascade is old housing by this measure — 90% of its 586 housing units predate 1990, and 50% were built before 1940. Anything installed new in those homes was a pre-standard fixture at 3.5 gallons or more, against 1.6 today.

Plenty of them have been changed since, and this data cannot tell you whether yours has. It tells you what the odds are for the street rather than the room.

What is actually wrong with it

Four complaints cover nearly all of it, and they are different faults rather than degrees of one. Running is the flapper or the fill valve. Nothing at all is usually the chain or a blockage. Water on the floor is four possibilities, one of which is not a leak. A weak flush is the water level, the chain, or the specification.

Ask them to name the fault before they name the price. “The toilet needs replacing” is not a diagnosis; “the flapper seat is pitted and will not hold a new flapper” is, and it happens to be a common one.

If the dye test pointed at the flapper, that is a part, not a fixture.Worth saying on the call, because it changes what somebody arrives with. We connect you to a contractor covering your area and you are never charged. Past toilets, Cascade is covered for whatever has gone wrong.
